‘Kai came into my life about 5 or 6 years ago. He was 16yo, pure arab and pure white and knees that had obviously had a major trauma to them in the past, but he moved okay and was only doing light work. Then I started using him for teaching and over time the work load gradually increased. He was one of my most reliable schoolmasters. He was still moving okay but the knees were very slowly getting stiffer.
Two years ago, whilst Kai was having his summer holidays, his hocks and hind fetlocks blew out. The bursars in the hind joints had obviously been compensating for the knees all these years and had finally given way. One fetlock looked like it had a softball attached to it. He was lame. Very lame.
We tried him on every shot for arthritis and anti-inflammatories etc that the vet suggested. He went on this course of medication and then that one and then on another, then another and another. Nothing was working and after many months, I started to worry that we would never manage it. The lameness in horse had decreased a little but his joints were still swollen and horrible.
Then a friend mentioned she had heard of a product called Technyflex. I ordered some and started him on it but didn’t see a difference. A week or so later, an agistee of mine ordered some for her horse who had badly hurt his hock. Her order came with very descriptive details on dosages. I hadn’t been using enough. Matrix playing‘In May 2014 my dog Matrix started suffering from ‘elbow dysplasia’, a degenerative disorder that the Vet explained had no cure and would progressively worsen. The Vet put him on anti-inflammatory pills for a week and having had success with Technyflex in the past I also put him on a dose of 3 Technyflex capsules a day. After 2 weeks we were back to our normal 6km walk! I continued giving him 2 Technyflex capsules a day for the next year and he never suffered from a limp (although he did suffer incontinence for 6 months as a result of the anti-inflammatories). At this time I wrote my original testimonial and claimed I would never take him off Technyflex. However, I am only human… In 2016 (when Matrix was 12.5 years old) I ran out of Technyflex and 2-3 weeks later I noticed a massive decline in his health – he was restless, heavy puffing, laboured breathing and extremely slow and stiff.
